Garden at Solstice

Happy solstice!

The garden is finally in its summer incarnation. This week, I took down the hoop house and removed the water walls from around the tomatoes and peppers. Our nights are still in the low 50s (dipping to 38 just last week), but the tomato plants were getting so big that I worried I wouldn’t get them out if I waited much longer.

The peas pods are swelling and the first strawberries are in.

The irises are making their debut late this year, as are the squash, which are just up.

The hills around our house have begun to turn brown, and the garden is ready for the heat.

    1. Yes, they have been hard at work eating the young pea pods and strawberries.
